The Mini Projector is a great projector for those looking for a cheap price. The projector is worth the buy, and comes with a few flaws. The biggest flaw is that the remote Bailey does not work. The projector also gets very hot, like it could burn your skin. The projector is still a great buy, and would be perfect for projection mapping for halloween.

Budget projector sweet spot: $100-200 projectors tested: 1080p, spend a little, get a lot.
The BenQ MH530FHD was the best 1080p projector I tested under $200, offering the best mix of features, performance, and value. It’s not as bright as some of the more expensive options out there, but its 3,000-lumen output is more than enough for most people’s needs. It has a decent selection of ports, including two HDMI inputs, and it supports HDR10 content. It’s also one of the quietest projectors I’ve ever tested, and its fan noise is barely audible even in quiet rooms.
If you want a cheaper option, the ViewSonic PA503W is a good choice. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the BenQ MH530FHD, but it’s still a great projector. It doesn’t support HDR10, and its 2,700-lumen output isn’t as bright as the BenQ, but it’s still plenty bright for most people. It also has a good selection of ports, including two HDMI inputs.

Should you buy a cheap projector? I tested 10 budget friendly projectors.
Technology has made it possible for just about anyone to have a big screen movie experience at home. But with so many projectors on the market, it can be hard to know where to start—especially on a budget. So, I bought 10 popular, cheap projectors and put them to the test.
After hours of watching movies, testing features, and taking notes, I feel better equipped to dodge all the inflated numbers and focus on the things that will actually get you a better performing projector. Other than the criteria of being under $100, I’m not going to talk much about each projector’s individual price, because between price cuts, percentage-based discounts, and Amazon coupons, prices fluctuate by as much as 40% every couple of days, and some of the projectors I paid the most for are now the cheapest, and vice versa.
Other than their sub-$100 price tags, the other thing that all these projectors have in common is their projection technology. There are three main types of projectors: Incandescent bulb projectors are moderately priced and have high brightness with the tradeoff of needing to replace the bulb every couple thousand hours. Laser projectors are an expensive new technology that use different color lasers to project a bright image with an extremely long lifespan. And then there are all the cheap projectors like the ones I have today, which use LED bulbs. LED bulbs don’t project as bright of an image as an incandescent bulb, but they do last much longer—up to 30,000 hours. So, for the majority of people, an LED projector is going to be the best bang for your buck.
When it comes to buying a cheap projector, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, brightness is going to be your biggest enemy. Most of these projectors are only going to be bright enough to use in a dark room, so if you’re planning on using your projector in a well-lit space, you’re going to want to spend a little more money. Second, native resolution is going to be important. A higher native resolution means a sharper image, so if you care about image quality, you’re going to want to pay attention to that number. Third, input lag is going to be a factor if you’re planning on using your projector for gaming. Input lag is the delay between when you press a button on your controller and when you see the action on screen. fourth, throw ratio is going to determine how big of an image you can get from your projector, and finally, noise levels are something to consider if you’re planning on using your projector in a quiet room.
So, without further ado, here are the 10 best cheap projectors, in no particular order:
1. Apeman LC350
2. Anker Nebula Capsule II
3. Artlii PicoProjector
4. DBPOWER T20
5. EUG X600
6. GooDee Mini Projector
7. Jeasun PicoProjector
8. Ohderii Projector
9. ViviMage Mini Projector
10. WiMiUS L1
Each of these projectors has its own set of pros and cons, so it’s important to do your research and figure out which one is going to be the best fit for you and your budget. But, hopefully, this list has given you a starting point and you feel better equipped to find the right projector for your needs.
