Using Projectors in Your Speech

If you are giving a speech whether it’s for work, for a school, or for a
university, it can be an incredibly nerve wracking experience that many
people simply do not enjoy. The problem is firstly that by definition you
will be the centre of attention – all eyes will be on you and you will be
forced to stand up in front of all your colleagues or a room full of
strangers. This makes it very scary even before you take into account the
topic that you will be talking on and how much that is likely to be a
difficult subject. If you are giving a speech then that will almost always
mean that you are either being examined in some way, trying to win over an
audience and get yourself or your business a contract or customer, doing
something you have been paid for, or speaking to your superiors on a
subject you may or may not fully understand (making presentations on
financial modeling for you boss for example).

There are some ways fortunately to make giving a speech just a little bit
easier and less of a stressful experience. For instance using projectors is
a great way to take some of the focus off of you and to help illustrate
your point with images as a way to make it simpler for your audience to
understand and easier to follow. An Excel presentation can be used for
example in financial modeling and this will allow you to actually present
the audience with a graph demonstrating your predicted profits or previous
finances (which is the aim of financial modeling).

If you use projectors along with the correct technology then it is also
possible to make interactive white boards and similar facilities in order
to make your presentation and this will allow you to scroll through pages
of information as your talk so that you don’t have to take your eyes off
the audience and can maintain eye contact this way. At the same time
projectors are great for enrapturing your audience due to the lighting and
it is usual for an audience to become somewhat fixated when presented with
a light projection in a dark room – often you can feel quite out of it in
fact once the presentation ends.

It’s important to make sure you get some things right with a presentation
using projectors however in order to ensure that it looks better and not
worse. For instance you need to make sure that you have something good and
worthwhile that you are going to display. The best way to create a
presentation is with something like Power Point which is designed
specifically for making speeches and demonstrations. Here you can set up a
range of slides or pages and flick through them at your leisure. Normally
each slide will then include some information and this information needs to
be easy to quickly take in. For example the information should be in bullet
points, or in short easy to read paragraphs with clear headings. This way
your audience will be able to quickly and easily see what each slide is
telling them and that should then supplement what you are saying.
