Using a Projector and Fixed Projector Screen in Your Home Theater

Many people are beginning to use projectors in their home theaters these
days, instead of setting up a television. Providing you are able to
adequately darken your home theater they actually work very well and the
screens themselves are quite a lot cheaper than a similar sized television
would be. Of course, you do have to pay for the projector, which is and
additional cost above what you would pay for a television and player. There
are a few pointers to keep in mind, however, if you decide to go this route.

First of all, do not buy the largest projector screen on sale. Your screen
should not be that big that it overwhelms those watching the movie, just
large enough to be able to view well. Remember too that the larger the
image the more diluted it tends to become, and the dimmer it becomes the
more two dimensional it looks.

Another con to having a large screen is that the projector is forced to
project over a wide area and thus it tends to use up the actual projector
lamp much more quickly than if you were using a smaller sized screen.
Projector lamps are fairly expensive to replace, so the longer you are able
to go without needing to replace it the better off you will be. Generally speaking, for most normal sized home theaters, the 92 inch screen
should be sufficient. It will still give you a wide viewing area but it
will not become dim or difficult for people on the edges or up close to
see. If you are not sure what size to buy, there are plenty of sites online
that provide calculators that will give suggested optimum sizes for your
room.

You should also make sure that the screen you buy is compatible with your
projector screen. If you are not sure what your best options are you should
research thoroughly before going ahead and making a purchase. Once you have
bought your projector and screen it will be too late to take it back in
most cases, therefore it is important to ‘get it right’ the first time.
Usually those selling this type of equipment should be able to help you
make the right decisions and help you to choose the right projector and
projector screen.

A properly set up, correctly sized projector screen will give you hours of
viewing pleasure and should last for many years. They are relatively easy
to care for and do not require maintenance and upkeep.
