Getting the Most Out of Projector Lamps

Projector bulbs are measured in hours depend on their digital projectors.
Older models, those built before around 2000, will normally have a life
span of around 1000 hours, newer models are normally atleast double that
and some of the multimedia models can even last for up to 6000 hours
constantly. Bulbs need replacing when their light begins to dim and some
projectors even have a function to allow you to see how many hours there
are remaining. They usually fall short of their expected life, although
they are extremely strong for their intended purpose of omitting light, the
same can’t be said for its durability.

Caring for your digital projectors will also ensure get the most out of
them. Projector bulbs are like any other electrical bulb, however they
generate a lot more heat so are much more sensitive especially when in use.
Keeping digital projectors cool is probably the most important factor to
maximising lamp life. If the bulbs get too hot they are likely to blow.
Making sure they have a good airflow running through them will help to
maximise usage. Regularly checking that the fan is working sufficiently
will prevent any mishaps. Make sure the projector is kept dirt and dust
free and that the room temperature doesn’t ever change drastically.
Whenever using a projector make sure its fully completed the cooling down
process before turning it off.

Some digital projectors have an economy mode, using this will allow maximum
usage out of your lamps. If they don’t then changing the brightness setting
to a low as possible without affect the image quality can add hours of life
onto your bulbs.

Projector bulbs are very sensitive to movement, so when transporting
digital projectors try to keep movement to a bare minimum. Always allow
enough time for cooling before moving, the bulbs are extremely sensitive
when hot. Before using again allow time for the bulb to adjust to the new
temperature otherwise you can seriously reduce the expected bulb life. Also
if leaving the projector in a car etc for any length of time be sure that
the temperature is not very cold or the projector is not left in the sun.
Temperature is probably the most important factor to getting the most out
of projector bulbs. Also whenever transporting the projector try to avoid
direct contact with any glass components including touching unless with a
soft cloth. Also try to avoid shaking of the projector at all.
