Business Projectors – Rental Vs Purchased

Most businesses have a need for a projector in the office. For smaller
businesses it might only be an occasional need while for larger companies
the equipment could be used every week at least one time.

Every business is different depending on the industry, size, and how the
company is operated. This means some businesses are better off renting
projector equipment when it is needed while others have to purchase their
own equipment in order for it to be cost effective.

Renting a Projector

This is where many businesses start with their adventures with projectors.
A small business decides to hold a seminar for clients or customers and has
to rush to find the equipment needed to make the event a success. A large
company starts up a new department and equipment is needed for orientation
of new employees and other meetings within the department.

Renting a projector is fast, easy, and very economical so businesses go
this way when there isn’t time or money to make a purchase. Many businesses
will go with rental equipment because they don’t think they will use it
often enough to justify purchasing one to keep in the office full time.

Renting a projector doesn’t make sense if you will use the equipment more
than once every couple months. Think about the business as a whole, rather
than on a department by department basis. Even if none of your departments
will use the equipment very often, it may be worth purchasing a unit if
collectively the company can use it once a month or every couple months.

Renting is great when you first get started with larger meetings or
conferencing, but most businesses eventually find it necessary to just
purchase a projector.

Buying a Projector

Rental charges are very reasonable for occasional uses, but if you are
paying them all the time they add up quickly. If you can use the equipment
more often then it is more affordable to just make the upfront investment
and purchase your own projector.

You have to consider what type of projector you need and then determine
whether you want to purchase used equipment or something brand new. Brand
new equipment is the best option as it will last longer and should come
with a manufacturer warranty in case something goes wrong rather quickly.

Used equipment can get you started if you are on a budget, but you have to
make sure it has been taken care of and will last at least long enough for
you to get the money for a new unit.

Do your research into different types of projectors and what they are used
for. There are basic LCD units that are designed for PowerPoint and other
image or slide based presentations while more advanced systems are ideal
for video and movie sharing. There are also units with more or less
illumination capabilities. You will need more illumination for larger rooms.

The best way to decide between purchasing and renting a projector is to
seriously consider how often you will use the equipment today and in the
future. If you could see your needs for the equipment going up in the near
future it may be the time to start shopping around for affordable prices to
make a purchase.
